CROSSING OF MOUNTAIN PLATEAU HARDANGERVIDDA
Hi!
In the middle of February 2007 we set out for a short trip to Norway. We intended to spend two weeks in the center of the beautiful plateau of Hardangervidda and, if the conditions allow, try to make the 120 kilometers long crossing of the plateau. We wanted to do using backcountry skies and everything we might have needed packed in the sled which we would pull with us. We wanted to be independent in every way as we had been in the middle of Greenland. Our point was to be outdoors - camp in the rugged mountains, be dependent only on GPS and compass, freeze or sweat a little bit... in short, we wanted to try what it is like to be on a winter expedition.
We were uploading messages with pictures to this website every day. Thanks to a sattelite phone, little handheld and (a lot of :) luck we let our friends, families and all occasional visitors of this web know how we were doing, what was the weather like, what had broken down and who is angry with who and why:-) In this way we wanted to provide you all with up-to-date information from our mini-expedition and make it possible for you to travel with us while sitting comfortably in the chair in front of your computer. And not only to provide you with the information! It was even possible to add a comment to each post we had sent on the web and get the answers from us straight from Norway. Everyone interested might have joint in our trip, even though only vicariously.
All the posts, pictures and visitors comments makes up the on-line diary of our two weeks long trip to Norway today and you are welcome to read it, search for any information you might need or just look at the pictures in photogallery.
Safe travels!

TITLE SPONSOR OF EXPEDITION FINSE 2007
User friendly in any weather, in any conditions... Humi Outdoor is a Czech company which has been around since 1990. It’s dealing with development, production and distribution of clothes and equipment for demanding sport activities and leisure time. Manufacturing of Humi Outdoor products is based on many years of experience in living in the open but also in extreme conditions. During manufacturing the stress is laid on maximum functionality – construction is as important as design and used materials (Sympatex, Polartec, Pertex etc.). MEDIA PARTNERSAll posts from Norway were regularly taken over by the news servers already mentioned above. Ceskenoviny.cz also offered us to make an on-line interview with their readers when we got back from Norway. You may look at the interview here. |
LET ME SAY THANK YOUIt has been a long time since I had given up of my naive notion of an expeditions which can be organized only by myself. I quickly realized that I will get nowhere without a help, advices and a support from the others. There are always many people behind everything that is done, from programming the web, organization, to the realization of any project itself. There are people who "just" encourage us to those who give us a real help. Without any exception - WE THANK YOU ALL! Special thanks then goes to Vítek Hněvkovský - the marketing manager of Humi Outdoor - who enabled our cooperation with Humi Outdoor, Karel Petrák - the editor of Ceskenoviny.cz - and Karel Wolf - the editor of Hedvabnastezka.cz - who were taking over our posts patiently and published them, to Denny Niernberg who is my very good friend and encourages me a lot, and Blanka Cabicárová who translated the web into English. |
